LG Launches HU810P 4K UHD Laser Projector

Previously announced in September 2020 at the European mega-electronics tradeshow IFA, LG Electronics said its new HU810P CineBeam 4K UHD laser projector will now launch the week of January 18. The latest addition to the company’s DLP projector lineup is notable for its HDMI 2.1 connections (with Auto Low Latency Mode and Enhanced Audio Return Channel), built-in webOS 5.0 platform, and WiSA support for a high-res wireless audio link with WiSA-compatible speakers.

LG’s home theater projector is spec’d for 2,700 ANSI lumens of brightness and the company says its dual laser system is capable of hitting 97 percent DCI-P3 color space coverage. Viewers can expect approximately 20,000 hours of usage from the projector’s laser light source, and its 1.6X zoom and 60 percent vertical and 24 percent horizontal lens shift provide installation flexibility.

Along with HDR10 and HLG high dynamic range support, the HU810P provides Dynamic Tone Mapping for enhanced HDR performance. An Iris Mode provides Bright and Dark Room presets, and LG’s Adaptive Picture Pro technology can automatically adjust the image based on room ambient light levels.

LG’s built-in webOS 5.0 platform provides built-in access to streaming services including Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, YouTube, and, AMCTheatres On Demand using the company’s Magic Remote. In addition to WiSA, the projector features Bluetooth audio input and output and also supports Apple AirPlay 2 and Screen Share for easy wireless display of content from a smartphone or tablet.

LG has priced the HU810P CineBeam 4K UHD laser projector at $2,999, though the company’s website currently lists it at $2,699.
