DALI’s Rubicon Speakers Go Wireless

When Sound & Vision reviewed DALI’s Callisto wireless speakers, we were impressed by their rich, dynamic sound and robust wireless performance courtesy of BluOS high-res multiroom audio streaming. What impressed us less about the Callisto was its somewhat bland, utilitarian design. Enter the new DALI Rubicon C line.

DALI showed the Rubicon C speakers in an active display at CES. The lineup consists of the 6 C tower ($8,000/pair) and 2 C bookshelf ($5,800/pair), both of which will be available in walnut and high-gloss black or white finishes. The Rubicon C cabinet has a slim profile, with rounded edges and impressive build quality. Each speaker has a built-in 250-watt class-D amplifier and a Burr Brown DAC that decodes 24-bit/96kHz audio signals via wireless or wired connections, with volume control happening in the amplifier to reduce noise.

Like the Callistos, the Rubicon C speakers need to be paired with the company’s $800 Sound Hub, a full-fledged preamp with multiple digital, analog, and aptX HD Bluetooth inputs, to operate wirelessly. DALI expects the Rubicon C speakers to ship this spring.
