Klipsch Enters Automotive Audio In Partnership with Panasonic

Klipsch has been a powerhouse in home audio for 74 years but the iconic brand has never ventured into the new-car automotive audio space — until now.

Under an “exclusive collaboration” announced at CES 2020, Klipsch will work with Panasonic’s automotive systems division to develop audiophile-quality Klipsch-branded sound systems for automakers.

As a leading supplier of automotive infotainment and connectivity solutions, Panasonic has worked with Fender to develop premium sound systems for Nissan and Volkswagen and has a longstanding partnership with Grammy-winning music producer/engineer Elliot Scheiner to develop sound systems for Acura, including the 16-speaker Acura/ELS Studio 3D Premium Audio System offered in the 2020 Acura RDX.

"Over my 26 years with Klipsch, I have repeatedly been asked 'when will Klipsch enter the car audio business?' My response has always been the same: when the right partner comes along," said Paul Jacobs, president and CEO of Klipsch. "We wanted our automotive partner to share our values and commitment to high performance audio and the customer experience. We believe we bring something very special to the automotive audio industry, and we look forward to what this collaboration with Panasonic will deliver."

"Klipsch is legendary in creating emotional listening experiences and their uncompromising commitment to excellence make them a natural collaboration partner for Panasonic," said Scott Kirchner, president, Panasonic Automotive Systems Company of America. "We couldn't be happier to welcome Klipsch to the auto industry, and to combine their commitment to creating incredible listening experiences with our automotive engineering know-how to deliver truly moving audio experiences."

Ugh... As if the proliferation of Bose systems weren't bad enough. It would seem the car interior is a terrible environment for directional horns.
