Digital Projection M-Vision Cine LED DLP Projector Measurements

Measurements

Contrast & Resolution

Peak-white level: 17.2fL
Black level: 0.002fL
Peak contrast ratio: 8600:1
Horizontal bandwidth: 37.1MHz

Note: these measurements were taken on a Stewart StudioTek 100 unity-gain screen. To see what they would have been on a StudioTek 130, multiply the peak-white and black levels by 1.3.

Grayscale & Color Temperature

Setting the Color Temperature control to 6500K, the grayscale wasn't bad, skewed a bit toward cyan.

Calibrating with BrilliantColor off brought the grayscale to near perfection except 20 IRE, which jumped toward red.

Turning BrilliantColor on and recalibrating brought the red bump below 20 IRE into line.

The pre-cal color temperature was slightly high across the brightness range, but not bad.

With BrilliantColor off, the calibrated color temp was fine except where it sagged below 20 IRE.

Recalibrating with BrilliantColor on flattened the color-temp curve nicely.

Before calibration, the grayscale was slightly deficient in red across the board.

With BrilliantColor off, color tracking after calibration was excellent except below 20 IRE.

Recalibrating with BrilliantColor on, the low-end red bump disappeared.

Color Accuracy

The color gamut with BrilliantColor off was close to perfect.

Turning BrilliantColor on tilted the red/blue axis slightly, but I ended up preferring the look of this setting—after recalibration, that is—on real-world program material.
