Wharfedale DX-1 HCP Speaker System HT Labs Measures
Satellite Sensitivity: 84 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
Center Sensitivity: 86.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the DX-1 Satellite sat (purple trace), DX-1 Centre center channel (green trace), and DX-1 subwoofer (blue trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured with grilles at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.
The DX-1 Satellite’s listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +2.04/–2.61 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The –3-dB point is at 106 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 92 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.70 ohms at 263 Hz and a phase angle of –37.32 degrees at 158 Hz.
The DX-1 Centre’s listening-window response measures +3.40/–2.93 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal responses measures +3.44/–3.91 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3-dB point is at 113 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 99 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.55 ohms at 14.1 kHz and a phase angle of –34.15 degrees at 5.9 kHz.
The DX-1 subwoofer’s closemiked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3-dB point is at 47 Hz and the –6-dB point is at 38 Hz. The upper –3-dB point is at 108 Hz with the Crossover control set to maximum.—MJP
