Q Acoustics 3000 5.1 Speaker System Review Test Bench
Satellite Sensitivity: 86.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
Center Sensitivity: 89 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the 3010 satellites (purple trace), 3070S subwoofer (blue trace), and 3090C center channel (green trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured with grilles at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.
The 3010’s listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +2.00/–2.22 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The –3dB point is at 103 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 66 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.89 ohms at 7.5 kHz and a phase angle of –43.05 degrees at 3.5 kHz.
The 3090C’s listening-window response measures +1.49/–1.07 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal responses measures +1.53/–3.70 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3dB point is at 100 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 81 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.60 ohms at 7.7 kHz and a phase angle of –38.83 degrees at 2.9 kHz.
The 3070S’s close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3dB point is at 34 Hz and the –6dB point is at 30 Hz. The upper –3dB point is at 174 Hz with the Crossover control set to maximum.—MJP
