Phil Jones Pure Sound Vi-410 Speaker System HT Labs Measures

HT Labs Measures

Satellite Sensitivity: 85 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
Center Sensitivity: 88.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz

This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the Vi-410 satellite (purple trace), PSW-1 subwoofer (blue trace), and Vi-420c center channel (green trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured with grilles at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.

The Vi-410’s listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +3.95/–4.72 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The –3-dB point is at 130 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 99 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 6.82 ohms at 4.9 kHz and a phase angle of –53.09 degrees at 132 Hz.

The Vi-420c’s listening-window response measures +1.59/–3.37 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal responses measures +1.59/–5.17 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3-dB point is at 86 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 73 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.88 ohms at 247 Hz and a phase angle of –35.05 degrees at 143 Hz.

The PSW-1’s close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3-dB point is at 50 Hz and the –6-dB point is at 44 Hz. The upper –3-dB point is at 126 Hz with the Frequency control set to maximum and the EQ zeroed.—MJP
