LG Announces Pricing & Availability for 2020 LCD TVs

LG announced today that the 2020 lineup of NanoCell LCD TVs it first showed at CES in January is starting to become available. The lineup includes 4K sets with screen sizes ranging from 49 to 86 inches, plus a pair of 8K models.

Here’s a breakdown of the new TVs:

Nano99 Series (8K)

  • 65- and 75-inch screen sizes
  • 75-inch model available in May for $4,999; 65-inch to follow in June for $3,499

Nano90 Series (4K)

  • 55-, 65-, 75-, and 86-inch screen sizes
  • Prices range from $1,049 up to $3,299 for the 86-inch model
  • 86-inch 86NANO90UNA available now; other models to follow later this month and through May

Nano85 Series (4K)

  • 49-, 55-, 65-, and 75-inch screen sizes
  • Announced prices range from $649 up to $1,199 for the 65-inch model
  • 49-inch 49NANO85UNA available now; 65- and 55-inch models to follow in April and May, respectively
  • Pricing for the 75-inch 75NANO85UNA, which LG plans to ship in September, hasn’t yet been announced

Nano81 Series (4K)

  • 55-, and 65-inch screen sizes
  • 65-inch model available in April for $899; 55-inch to follow in May for $599

Nano99 8K models feature an α9 Gen 3 AI Processor 8K equipped with “deep learning” tech to improve the look of upscaled 4K and HD images, while the Nano90 and Nano85 Series models feature a new α7 Gen 3 Intelligent Processor for upscaling regular HD sources. Both the Nano 90 and Nano 99 series sets also feature a Full Array Local Dimming (FALD) LED backlight.

All new NanoCell LCD models feature a screen layer that’s said to improve color accuracy over a wide viewing angle and support the Dolby Vision (Nano81 series excepted), HDR 10, and HLG formats. Other features include the UHD Alliance’s Filmmaker Mode picture preset, and both auto low-latency (Nano99 and Nano91 series) and variable refresh rate (Nano90 and Nano85 series) to enhance gameplay.

Built-in smart features on the new sets include Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa for hands-free control, along with Apple AirPlay2 and HomeKit support. Streaming app highlights include Netflix, Apple TV, Disney+, Movies Anywhere, and Comcast’s Xfinity Stream live-TV.

None of the new LG LCD models feature ATSC 3.0 (Next Gen TV) over-the-air tuners.
