Elac Debuts Debut Reference Speakers

The debut of Elac's new Debut Reference actually happened at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest a week prior to CEDIA, but the new speakers nonetheless occupied a prominent place at the center of the brand's CEDIA booth.

The Debut Reference lineup consists of the DFR62 floorstander ($499/each) and the DBR62 bookshelf ($499/pair) models. Both speakers use 1-inch soft dome tweeters with a newly developed waveguide and 6.5-inch Aramid Fiber woofers (three on the floorstander and one on the bookshelf).

One factor that differentiates the new designs from the company's previous Debut 2.0 speakers is a front slotted vent in place of a round port. The crossover network has also been upgraded, and the speakers are available in a range of appealing new finishes, including the Rough Oak shown on the DBR62 at right in the image above.

Elac plans to start shipping the Debut Reference speakers at the end of October in the U.S.
