LG's 8K NanoCell TV Ups Off-Center Performance

Although LG's superb but pricey ($30,000) 88-inch 8K OLED TV and new 4K CineBeam short-throw projection system were the stars of the booth, LG also featured a new LCD-based 8K TV.

The 75-inch 75SM99, while not cheap at $5,000, won't require a second mortgage either. It's not an OLED, but rather part of LG's latest range of NanoCell LCD sets.

Its IPS panel offers better off-center image consistency than the VA panels used in most LCD designs (though some VA sets are getting better). The 75M99 also has full array local dimming for solid blacks (though black levels are impossible to judge with show floor lighting and the bright images used to compete with it).
