Austere Introduces 8K-Capable HDMI 2.1 Cable

Oregon-based startup Austere has introduced an HDMI 2.1 cable designed to meet 8K UHD specifications.

Described as strong, flexible, and “demonstrably thinner than most other 8K cable options,” the cable comprises silver-plated oxygen-free copper conductors with gold contacts and tight-fitting LinkFit connectors and is protected by Austere’s Kevlar-reinforced WovenArmor jacket.

Rated bandwidth is 48 Gbps, and the cable supports resolutions up to 10K, 8K60 and 4K120 frame rates, and eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel) technology, according to the company.

Available on the company website and Amazon, the VII Series 8K HDMI cable is offered in 1.5m and 2.5m lengths for $99 and $149, respectively.
