This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the Prime Satellite (purple trace) and SB-1000 subwoofer (blue trace). The passive loudspeaker was measured with grille at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input.

The Prime Satellite’s listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and ±15° horizontal and vertical responses) measures +2.44/–3.23 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and ±15° horizontal responses measures +3.09/–3.35 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3-dB point is at 98 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 86 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.56 ohms at 302 Hz and a phase angle of +37.89° at 1.1 kHz.

The SB-1000’s close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3-dB point is at 23 Hz and the –6-dB point is at 21 Hz. The upper –3-dB point is at 162 Hz with the Low Pass Filter control set to maximum.—MJP
