Sonus faber Previews Architectural Speaker Collection

Sonus faber announced a new line of in-wall and in-ceiling speakers at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) show that opened yesterday in Amsterdam.

Slated for release in the third quarter of 2019, the new Palladio Collection is named after the influential Renaissance architect Andrea Palladio and comprises 13 models that draw on technology featured across the Sonus faber’s high-end speaker lines — including silk-dome tweeters, natural fiber/cellulose pulp midrange drivers and woofers, and crossover networks based on the company’s Paracross Topology.

Pricing was not announced.

The speakers are divided into Level 5 and Level 6 lines, designed to complement the Sonetto and Olympica speaker collections, respectively. All are described as “extremely compact” and easy to install with paintable grilles that attach magnetically. Drivers used in the higher-end Level 6 models have the added feature of die-cast aluminum baskets.

Each line includes two in-ceiling models with angled drivers designed to direct sound toward the listening position in spaces that can’t accommodate in-wall speakers as well as a home theater-oriented in-wall LCR (Left/Center/Right) model featuring a woofer-tweeter-woofer configuration.

Three models in the Level 6 line have a wooden back box for installations that require sound isolation; the box is sealed but can be opened if greater acoustic loading is desired.

Aluminum insets (Line 5) and optional walnut and maple inlays (Line 6) bring the style of Sonus faber’s freestanding speakers to the top in-wall models in each series. Level 6 models also offer the option of being upgraded with classic elastic grilles.

A passive in-wall subwoofer featuring a single 10-inch driver (model PS-G1010) will be available as an option for all Palladio speakers.
