New Salamander Cabinets Made for UST Projectors

Salamander Designs, the Connecticut-based maker of quality AV furniture, is addressing the growing interest in ultra-short-throw (UST) projectors with a line of cabinets custom-built for video projection systems designed to sit mere inches from the wall.

Designed with functionality in mind and available in a variety of colors and finishes, the UST cabinets feature a flush top surface and a recessed projector cavity that uses fans and built-in louvers to keep the projector and other gear in the cabinet cool.

A durable aluminum frame provides stability and “pinch out rear panels” make it easy to access components and wiring. The cabinets also have shelving to accommodate several components with fixed and pull-out options for gear and media.

The purpose-built cabinets were originally created for Sony UST projectors like the VPL-VZ1000ES and later extended to UST projectors from Epson, Dell, Vivitek, and Hisense.

Salamander said the cabinets can be custom configured for any model projector. Prices range from $2,499 to $3,999, depending on cabinet style, finish, and accessories.

“This is an entirely new, much-needed product category for both commercial and residential markets,” said Salvatore Carrabba, president and founder of Salamander Designs. “This UST cabinet streamlines install of projectors and is an elegant solution…that keeps all components and speakers in one single, seamless cabinet solution with no jumbling of cables.”
