Is there any way to select an input directly at the receiver vs the remote? I’m guessing this has a touch screen but not sure how you get to it. If not that seems really useful unfriendly.

Also no volume display sent to the tv screen? Or any other info display like I have on myt787? Again really poor interface. Especially when receiver screen is not visible from seating position.

I've already shipped it back but I *believe* you can switch inputs via the front panel screen. (I never had any need to during my review...) You just touch the front panel screen and it responds, providing access to the full control and setup menu. There is no video processing whatsoever, and that includes an onscreen volume overlay... It does have onscreen GUI, but for setup, and it overrides the currently playing video when in use. It does output whatever is playing from the BluOS streaming however.

1. The user manual on page 26 describes access on the touch screen display to sources.
2. I prefer not to see volume changes on my 4K screen. It is intrusive and disrupts the content being viewed. You can still view it on screen on a separate 2K screen from HDMI OUT 2. Or just use the NAD app.

There currently is NOT an app to control the T-778. The architecture is so different that it does not work with the current NAD app. There was no news whether they would develop one or not. There is a 3rd party app available for sale that I played with briefly that seemed to function pretty reliably.

That’s disappointing. I use the app for my t787 just to control volume from different rooms. Does the blue os app let me control volume for other inputs ? Anthem says their new mrx 40 line will have a web interface,I wonder if that’s in the works for nad? Will be interesting to compare the 740 with this.

Having owned an NAD stereo receiver in days gone by I can attest to the quality of their products, but I was was disappointed with the 1080p HDMI and charging $99 for the full Dirac Live. That's nickel and dime stuff, just to meet a price point. Unfortunately products more expensive than this don't include manuals either. Another missing feature common on receivers in this price range is a 7.1 analog input, which I use to connect an OPPO UDP-205 to my current Marantz receiver. Even though it wasn't mentioned, I'm assuming the T778 decodes DSD. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't believe that it handles DSD files. They were not listed in the file formats, and this is from the BluOS support site: https://support.bluos.net/hc/en-us/articles/360019447014-Playing-DSD-Files-in-BluOS I agree that lack of a 4K HDR output for Zone 2 is a real bummer. Especially since I have a dual display setup and use that feature FREQUENTLY with my current Marantz AV8805.

My t787 also does not support DSD on sacds.. my oppo must decode it.

I've been somewhat impatiently waiting for this review! Thanks for sharing your listening impressions but why no bench test results? That is very disappointing.

I really wonder how this will compare to the Marantz SR8015. I have never owned either brand, had Pioneer Elite's all these years, looking for a change.

Someone on Facebook said that speakers still played when headphones were plugged in. Is that a faulty unit or do you have to manually shut off the speakers in the GUI?
