More McIntosh Preamps Now ‘Roon Tested’

McIntosh’s C53 solid-state preamplifier and C2700 tube preamplifier are the latest products to receive the Roon Tested designation from Roon Labs, bringing the number of McIntosh products to carry the label to 14.

Roon Tested components are optimized for, and automatically recognized by, the popular Roon music playback and library management system to ensure a hassle-free music experience.

Existing Roon users can trigger their system to acquire McIntosh icons and optimized settings by restarting Roon and using the Identify My Device feature in Device Settings to apply the new information. New users have to create a Roon account, then download and install the application.

Roon is a rich and engaging way to browse, organize, and listen to music. Artist photos, credits, bios, reviews, lyrics, tour dates, and composers are automatically located and interconnected to create a repository of easily accessible information about music as it plays. Roon is also a multiroom, multi-user networked audio platform offering bit-perfect playback, DSD and PCM upsampling, multichannel support, and signal path display.

The following McIntosh products carry the Roon Tested designation:
• C47, C49, C52, C53, C2600, C2700, and D1100 preamplifiers
• MA5300, MA7200, MA8900, and MA9000 integrated amplifiers
• MAC7200 stereo receiver
• MHA150 headphone amplifier
• MXA80 audio system

All models are equipped with an 8-channel, 32-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that operates in "quad balanced" mode, 24-bit/192-kHz-capable coaxial and optical inputs; and USB inputs that accept PCM signals up to 32 bits/384 kHz and support DSD256 and DXD 384kHz playback. The C53 and C2700 have a newer DAC that supports DSD512 via USB with improved dynamic range and lower total harmonic distortion, according to McIntosh.
