Quintet V speaker/subwoofer system vs Energy Take Classic Subwoofer/ satellite system vs Pioneer SP-PK21BS subwoofer/satellite system . What is the better Budget Home Theater System?
Klipsch Quintet Speaker System HT Labs Measures
Satellite Sensitivity: 87.5 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
Center Sensitivity: 90 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz
This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the Quintet 5 satellite (purple trace), Quintet 5 center channel (green trace), and SW-110 subwoofer (blue trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured with grilles at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.
The satellite’s listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +4.38/–2.60 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The –3-dB point is at 120 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 103 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 5.03 ohms at 374 Hz and a phase angle of –37.41 degrees at 247 Hz.
The center’s listening-window response measures +3.01/–1.37 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal responses measures +2.54/–2.52 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3-dB point is at 107 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 98 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 5.08 ohms at 408 Hz and a phase angle of –38.04 degrees at 260 Hz.
The SW-110’s close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3-dB point is at 33 Hz and the –6-dB point is at 30 Hz. The upper –3-dB point is at 103 Hz with the Lowpass control set to maximum. —MJP

Thanks Mark, excellent review.
I'm impressed with the review of the satellites, less so with the Sub. Would my REL Storm be a better option?
In general, it's harder to design a great compact sub, especially for use with satellites, than it is to design the sats themselves, so my performance ratings for subs are usually lower than speaker ratings. The systems where the subs and sats are of equally high quality are the exception, not the rule.
I'm very strongly considering the klipsch quintet but, would like to pair them with a stronger performing sub. What other subs would you pair with this set ball park ~$500 that would be a stronger match than the stock klipsch sub?
I have that sub with my RF-82s and it does a really good job. Every review I've read before I bought it says it rocks the house. So, before you decide on another sub read other reviews. This sub plays loud and sounds great.
Mark, thanks for the great review. I am really considering buying either the Klipsch Quintet 5 of the Definitive Technology ProCinema 600. I have read the Def Tech review on your website from Kim Wilson, which is great, but am confused how do these two systems compare? Since the Klipsch review is from 2013 vs Def tech is from 2011, makes me think that Klipsch is newer and has got slightly better rating from your website,so should be better. I have heard Def Tech, and really liked it (but i am really a novice), however, couldn't hear Klipsch in any of the stores i visited - would appreciate your view. I am thinking of pairing either systems with BIC f12 subwoofer(let me know if you recommend another sub in $200 price range), and the 5.1 package is costing me almost the same in either case.
Please let me know your thoughts on quintet 5 vs procinema 600. Thanks!
