JVC Rolls Out HDR Upgrade for its LCoS Projectors

JVC's line of LCOS projectors hasn't changed much this year except for the addition of a feature it calls Frame Adaptive HDR.

Similar to the dynamic tone mapping feature that's becoming more common in flat screen Ultra HDTVs, it generates metadata on a frame-by-frame basis to compensate for the lack of Dolby Vision and its dynamic tone mapping, a common omission on consumer projectors. We hope to have a closer look at this in a future review.

In any case, JVC demoed its NX9 projector on a 165-inch diagonal 16:9 screen that's about 144 inches wide. The result was superb and one of the best looking projector demos at the show, though the selected program material didn't really challenge the projector's contrast.
