JBL Conceal Series Invisible Speakers Now Available

Harman Luxury Audio has announced that the JBL Conceal Series invisible loudspeakers the group first displayed at CEDIA 2019 are now available.

The Conceal Series consists of three full-range loudspeakers and a subwoofer and is designed to be installed in-wall or in-ceiling for a seamless mount with the drywall. Furthermore, the speaker’s surface is paintable, allowing for blemish-free integration with interior spaces.

"The new JBL Conceal Series empower custom integrators to provide their customers with the very best of both worlds — category-leading acoustic performance coupled with aesthetic license to place loudspeakers where they will deliver the optimal listening experience”, said Jim Garrett, Senior Director, Product Strategy and Planning, HARMAN Luxury Audio. "The JBL Conceal Series will be a welcome addition to the design palate of integrators, interior designers and homebuilders serving customers with exacting design ideas but who also require exceptional sound.”

Conceal Series speakers use a rigid compression molded baffle skinned with patented Fidelity Glass acoustic panels. A cone woofer attached to the baffle couples with the glass panel, while midrange and high-frequency transducers are affixed directly to the glass. According to JBL, the design provides “greater surface area for realistic dynamics and low frequency extension,” and also creates “a near 180-degree dispersion pattern, ideal for an invisible in-wall or in-ceiling speaker.”

The flagship C86 ($2,000.00/each) is a dual panel, six-element design with a 1-inch HF transducer, 4 x 1.2-inch MF transducers, and an 8-inch woofer with 1.5-inch voice coil.

The C83 ($1,000.00/each) is a three-element design with a 1-inch HF transducer, a 1.2-inch MF transducer, and an 8-inch woofer with 1.5-inch voice coil.

The C62 ($600.00/each) is a two-element design with a 1.2-inch HF transducer and a 6.5-inch woofer with 1-inch voice coil.

Intended for use in pairs, the C82W passive subwoofer ($1,300.00/pair) is a single panel featuring 2 x 8-inch woofers with 1.5-inch voice coils. According to the company, the C82W is designed to be paired with the Crown CDi 2|300 DriveCore amplifier ($1,224.00/each) as a complete subwoofer system solution.

due to the permanent nature of the installation. I heard a Conceal system at CES, though, and it sounded really impressive for speakers embedded in a wall and painted over.
