Denon and Marantz Expand IMAX-Enhanced Lineups

Sound United today announced a firmware update that brings IMAX Enhanced technology to a five AV receivers and a preamp/processor from Denon and Marantz.

The brands were the first to embrace IMAX Enhanced last November with its inclusion in Denon’s flagship AVR-X8500 AVR ($3,999) and Marantz’s AV8805 ($4,499) preamp/processor.

The firmware update is being pushed out to a half dozen lower-priced models starting today, including two Denon AV receivers: The AVR-X6500H ($2,199) and AVR-X4500H ($1,599).

Marantz is adding IMAX Enhanced to its AV7705 preamp/processor ($2,199) and three AVRs: the SR8012 ($2,999), SR7013 ($2,199), and SR6013 ($1,499).

“IMAX Enhanced has been building impressive momentum since its introduction in late 2018,” said Brendon Stead, senior vice president of product development and engineering at Sound United. “Additional AV partners, content and distribution are all the traditional signs the format is being enthusiastically adopted.”

To receive the update, the receiver or preamp/processor must be powered on and connected to the internet.
