Acurus to Unveil Surround Processor and Amp at CEDIA

Indy Audio Labs (IAL), owner of the high-performance brands Aragon and Acurus, has announced that it will showcase an upgraded 20-channel version of the Acurus ACT 4 home cinema processor and three other products, including a new lower priced surround processor, at next week’s CEDIA Expo.

Announced earlier in the year, the new ACT 4 supports native 9.1.6 Dolby Atmos decoding and will sell for less than $10,000. At the time IAL CEO Ted Moore said: “We were the first sub-$10,000 wholly-designed American immersive audio processor, first with both 7.3.6 Dolby Atmos and 7.1.4 DTS:X native decoding, first with full support of HDMI 2.0b with HDCP 2.2, and now first to expand into the 20-channel realm with 15.1 Dolby Atmos native decoding plus 4 extra configurable channels.”

The company will also showcase a "magnificent variant of our ACT 4 platform” called Muse and a companion eight-channel amplifier, dubbed the M8. Designed to bring immersive surround sound to multi-purpose media rooms, the Muse processor supports 4K/high-dynamic-range (HDR)/HDMI 2.0b passthrough, can be configured with a “host of surround formats,” including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, and carries a “full complement” of third-party control drivers and web-control interfaces.

"In addition, the Muse works with our proprietary room-correction system, ASPEQT, giving integrators complete control over the acoustic experience," Moore said, noting that the processor will sell for less than $6,000.

IAL will also show a “new proprietary room-correction kit” based on the ASPEQT system.
