Lexicon Launches LX Series Amps
That's exactly the parameter that Lexicon had in mind in designing its new LX series amplifiers. These THX Ultra-certified multichannel powerhouses come in a five-channel version, the LX-5, and in a seven-channel version, the LX-7. Both are rated at 200 watts/8 ohms, and allow individual channels to be "bridged" for 400-watt/ 8-ohm output if needed.
Each channel features single-ended or "unbalanced" RCA inputs, balanced (XLR) inputs, ¼" TRS input jacks, and heavy-duty five-way binding posts on the outputs. A ground-lift switch provides an easy way to attain the lowest residual system noise, and a thermal protection circuit protects each channel from overheating, as does a microprocessor-controlled forced-air cooling system. An output protection circuit will shutoff current flow in the event of a short circuit to the outputs.
Each LX series amplifier has an oversized toroidal power transformer for low magnetic radiation and unbridled dynamic capability. Lexicon custom-designed and hand-selected the output transistors for the multichannel amps, which feature four of the devices per channel. LX Series amps should be available soon at all authorized Lexicon dealers.
