I cant believe yamaha finally reworked there protection system the bench tests were hugely suprising I remeber on another web sight they showed that the yamaha a3000 series could pull off 150watts x 7 dynamicly and when you look at there 2 channel performance on there step down a2050 its more powerful then any receiver out there right now in 2 channel mode so I decided to look into this further after seeing these new specs and everybody always claiming yamaha only used a 450-550watt power supply which at 40lbs was hard to believe so after looking through yamahas a3050 manual towards the back at the end they blaitently state that the receiver draws 1200watts when pushed to the max so to all the people who continued to claim yamaha skimps on there power supply you are very wrong those 450watt numbers they publish are probably to compete with there rivals who state huge power numbers (pioneer) while only using 370watts Im really happy with yamahas new aproach to there protection circuitry and even if you use all 9 channels i doubt you'ld ever push more then 5 channels at full load unless using all channel stereo and even then i'm not sure most people could handle the spl before the amp section maxes out
