Vizio Ships Flagship 65-Inch 4K Smart TV
The top model in the company’s P-Series, the PQ65-F1 ($2,100) is a full-array local dimming design featuring 192 zones of backlighting with LEDs that respond dynamically to what’s on screen to enhance contrast and shadow detail. Framed by a razor thin bezel, the TV sports an all-screen look and supports Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) high dynamic range (HDR) formats.
Peak brightness is rated as up to 2,000 nits and Vizio says its quantum-dot-based Quantum Color Spectrum technology produces more than one billion colors. Vizio’s Clear Action 960 processing combined with an effective refresh rate of 240 Hz, achieved with backlight scanning, is said to reduce motion blur for a smoother, more natural looking picture.
The set is based on Vizio’s app-based SmartCast platform, which supports Google Chromecast for access to thousands of Chromecast-enabled apps in addition to providing on-screen apps for Netflix, Prime Video, Vudu, iHeartRadio, Crackle, and Xumo. Vizio’s SmartCast Mobile app can be used to turn the viewer’s smartphone into a touchscreen remote.
SmartCast also makes it possible to control a wide range of smart home devices and enables voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for functions such as turning the TV on and off, changing channels, adjusting volume, and, for Google Assistant users, streaming content to the TV.
Vizio describes the PQ65-F1’s modern silver styling and minimalist aluminum legs as a “seamless foundational element.”
