Vanco Unveils Budget In-Ceiling/On-Wall Speakers

Illinois-based custom AV specialist Vanco International has introduced a budget line of custom-installation speakers with prices ranging from $150 to $270.

The latest addition to Vanco’s Beale Street Audio brand, the new Beale Basics series starts shipping this week and comprises five in-ceiling models and an on-wall/ceiling pendant speaker that can be used indoors or outdoors.

In-ceiling models include the two-way IC6-BSC ($230) and IC8-BSC ($300) models that pair a 0.75-inch titanium-dome tweeter with a 6.5- and 8-inch woven-Kevlar woofer, respectively. Low-frequency limits are 65 and 50 Hz (–3 dB), respectively. Both 8-ohm models have a rated sensitivity of 90 dB and are available in 70-volt commercial versions: IC6V-BSC ($150) and IC8V-BSC ($180).

The line also includes the IC6DT-BSC ($160), which is similar to the IC6-BSC but with two pivoting tweeters for spaces that can’t accommodate two speakers.

All in-ceiling models boast a frameless design that “disappears into the ceiling,” grilles that attach magnetically, a ±3-dB EQ switch, and a ‘dog-ear’ mounting system said to make installation easy.

Rounding out the line is the WP6V-BSC pendant speaker ($270), featuring a 6.5-inch woofer and 1-inch silk-dome tweeter encased in an 8 x 11-inch, water-resistant enclosure (top in above photo) that can be hung from the ceiling or mounted on the wall. The speaker has a –3 dB low-frequency limit of 100Hz and rated sensitivity of 85 dB. Mounting hardware is included.

“The new Beale Basics series offers integrators the same quality of products they have come to expect from Beale Street Audio, but at price points that are even more attainable,” said Vanco’s director of audio Randy Blanchard.

Beale Basics speakers are covered by a limited lifetime warranty.
