True-Fi Sound Enhancement App Now Supports 150+ Headphones

Sonarworks, the Latvia-based developer of the unique True-Fi app has announced that its patented sound-enhancing platform now supports more than 150 headphones, including popular models from AKG, Beats, Beyerdynamic, Bose, Focal, HiFiMan, Sennheiser, Sony, and others.

The $79 app aims to improve the sound of off-the-shelf headphones from 39 popular brands by measuring the frequency response, applying filters, and removing unwanted sound coloration to create a flat “studio reference” curve. Beyond creating more natural sound, the app compensates for age-related hearing loss and provides a bass adjustment option for those who prefer a low-end boost over completely flat sound.

The app is available for Mac and PC platforms and coming soon to Android and iOS mobile devices, according to Sonarworks, which says its technology is used by 20,000 professional recording studios.

The addition of 27 new headphone profiles brings the number of True-Fi-supported headphone models to 157, including two new noise canceling additions: the Bose Quiet Comfort 35 II and Sony WH-1000XM2. Each headphone has been meticulously measured and included as a complimentary software upgrade for existing True-Fi users.

"We are proud to support an increasing number of headphones, and at no incremental cost to the consumer," said Helmuts Bēms, CEO and co-founder of Sonarworks. "Frequent travelers will appreciate that True-Fi now supports two of the best noise cancelling headphones we have ever measured: the Bose QuietComfort 35 II and Sony WH-1000XM2. We are also pleased that we now cover the entire Focal professional range, with the addition of the much requested Clear Professional and Listen Professional models.”
