SiriusXM Adds $4/Mo Streaming Package for Students

SiriusXM has announced a $4/month subscription package for college students.

The new Student Premier package, offered at a discount of 69% off the regular price of the service’s $12.99/month Premier Streaming package, gives subscribers streaming access to music, sports, and entertainment channels on a phone or tablet via the SiriusXM.com web player and on a number of connected devices, including Xbox and PlayStation game consoles, smart TVs, Sonos speakers, Amazon Alexa- and Chromecast-enabled devices, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, and Apple TV.

The package provides access to more than 200 commercial-free music channels — including the new Personalized Stations Powered by Pandora — 100 recently added SiriusXM Xtra channels, and a large selection of talk channels featuring sports, entertainment, comedy, lifestyle, and news. Subscribers can give songs a thumbs up or thumbs down to create channels tailored to personal taste, skip songs, and access artist-branded channels like Diplo’s Revolution, concept channels like Hip Hop Nation, and the new Pandora NOW channel that showcases music that’s trending.

A number of college-sports-focused channels such as ESPNU Radio on SiriusXM are also available in addition to NBA Radio and NHL channels.

“Today’s college students grew up listening to SiriusXM in their parent’s car, and now we have a package built just for them,” said Matt Epstein. “Our Student Premier Package enables students to have their own subscription and continue to enjoy the SiriusXM programming they love in their dorm room, at home, or on the go. We’re delivering students an incredible selection of content, including the newly launched Personalized Stations Powered by Pandora, Xtra channels, SiriusXM Video, and more, all at a great price.”
