The top chart shows the LN-T5265F's gray scale relative to its color temperature at various levels of intensity, or brightness (20 IRE is dark gray; 100 IRE is bright white). The gray scale as set by the factory, in the Warm2 color temperature mode and the Movie picture mode, measures slightly cool with dark images and bright image, but midtones were somewhat cooler. After making adjustments using the Photo Research PR-650, the gray scale measures slightly closer to D6500, the accurate color temperature, but the overall curve stays the same.

The bottom chart shows the gray scale (or color temperature) relative to the color points of the display's red, green, and blue color filters. These are very close to those specified by SMPTE. Red is very slightly oversaturated and very slightly purplish-red. Green is very slightly bluish-green. Blue is pretty much spot on.

After calibration, and using a full-field 100-IRE white (19.63 foot-Lamberts) and a full-field 0-IRE black (0.017 ftL), the contrast ratio was 1,155:1. Using a 16-box checkerboard pattern (ANSI contrast), the contrast ratio was 1,142:1. The best contrast ratio was achieved with the backlight set to 0. The brightest image was achieved with the backlight set to 10. With this setting, the LN-T5265F produced 105.5 ft-L on a 100-IRE field and 0.105 ft-L on a 0-IRE field for a contrast ratio of 1,005:1.-GM
