Samsung and Sony Battle to be First

In a classic battle between Korea and Japan, Sony and Samsung are fighting to be first. First to have a 200Hz LCD TV, that is. It's a also a matter of semantics. Samsung had the world's first prototype, but it's looking like Sony is going to be selling one first. They previewed the Sony Bravia Z4500 LCD at IFA.

Want even more confusion?

Both companies have introduced 240Hz LCD sets. EngadgetHD is attributing that to the differences between NTSC's 60Hz and PAL's 50Hz timing issues with this refresh rate.

I'm not sure why they care who is first. 200Hz is bound to be the new feature that all sets will boast about. -Leslie Shapiro
