Audio distributor Vana Ltd. has announced the availability of two Audio Physic speakers in the U.S.

The Step, described as an “ultra-high-performance bookshelf speaker” ($2,595/pair), and the Tempo plus ($5,995/pair) floorstanding model have been redesigned ground up and are said to benefit from technological advances realized during the development of the company’s flagship speaker, the Cardeas 30 LJE.

They share the same 1.75-inch tweeter and 6-inch midrange driver, housed in separate compartments and made of ceramic-coated aluminum with a proprietary hybrid cone construction, said to combine the dampening characteristics of modern polymers with the stability and stiffness of metal. The suspension system and basket chassis of both drivers are mechanically decoupled from one another to reduce unwanted resonances, which is said to improve clarity and detail over conventional drivers.

In addition to the elaborate basket construction — which Audio Physic calls Hyper-Holographic Cone (HHC) chassis — the midrange has a fixed metal phase plug to reduce heat. The cabinet of both models has also been updated to include stiff open-cell ceramic foam bracing, which is designed to stabilize the enclosure and absorb acoustic energy.

The Tempo plus adds two side-mounted 7-inch aluminum woofers to the tweeter/midrange complement; the drivers are situated across from one another in a push-push configuration designed to improve low-frequency resolution.

Both models feature a newly engineered crossover network and premium-grade WBT binding posts, mechanically decoupled from the enclosure. The cabinets are designed with a rearward tilt to “help to balance out phase differences between the midrange and tweeter.”

Standard finishes for the Step plus and Temp plus are cherry or walnut wood-veneer; black or white high gloss or ebony wood veneer are available at an additional cost of $200 and $500, respectively.
