Portable Audio-Remastering Device Ready to Go

Aftermaster Audio Labs has announced that the crowd-funded, Justin Timberlake-backed Aftermaster Pro portable audio remastering device we wrote about earlier this year is now in production.

Smaller than an iPhone, the $169 device is designed to “transform the audio” from TVs, smartphones, headphones, laptops, gaming consoles—like “having your own sound engineer wherever you go”—according to Aftermaster Audio Labs.

“The Aftermaster Pro masters and re-masters inconsistent sound in real-time, making it not only seamless, but more exciting and balanced than ever before,” the company said in a press release. “You'll be able to hear your favorite television shows, movies, sports teams, and more like never before—without having to constantly adjust volume.”

Developed by an “elite team of music and audio experts,” the device is easily installed via HDMI cables between any TV and the AV source (cable or satellite box, etc.), and equipped with a rechargeable battery and minijacks so it can be used on-the-go to improve the sound of smartphones, tablets, and computers.

Aftermaster expects to manufacture up to 50,000 units by the end of the year. The first phase will fulfill thousands of units pre-sold through crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo that raised more than $750,000. Sales “through select retail and online outlets” will follow, according to the company.
