Pearl Jam’s Gigaton Comes to Apple TV in Dolby Vision and Atmos

Gigaton, the late-March release from 90s grunge-rock kings Pearl Jam and the band’s first album since 2013’s Lightning Bolt, was to be preceded by a one-night-only showing of the Gigaton Theatrical Listening Experience at select Dolby Atmos theaters around the world. But then, you know, the theaters closed and Pearl Jam was forced to cancel the screenings.

Fortunately for owners of Apple TV 4K boxes, the band is making the same content available for free as the Gigaton Visual Experience in Dolby Vision with Dolby Atmos sound via the Apple TV app starting today and continuing for the next seven days. To get the maximum Experience, you will need to have a Dolby Vision-compatible Ultra HDTV and Atmos-equipped sound system.

While Pearl Jam’s new visual album will certainly look and sound best in a tricked-out home theater with an Apple TV 4K as a source , iPhone, iPad, and Mac computer owners can also experience Gigaton for free via the Apple TV app. (Check here to see if your iDevice is compatible with the advanced Dolby A/V Technologies.)
