Panasonic UHD Blu-ray Player Due in September

Panasonic will join Samsung and Philips to become the third company to offer an Ultra HD Blu-ray player in September when it ships the DMP-UB900.

Previewed at CES in January, the player supports high dynamic range (HDR) playback, is THX-certified, and incorporates image enhancing technology from the prestigious Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory. 4K image color signals (4:2:0) are interpolated into 4K (4:4:4) by a multi-tap chroma process for natural textures and depth, according to Panasonic.

The DMP-UB900 will sell for $700 on panasonic.com and at retail locations including Best Buy Magnolia.

The player supports internet-delivered 4K video from YouTube and Netflix, Miracast content mirroring, and features a 192 kHz/32-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) for compatibility with high resolution music files, including DSD.

Features include:
• 4K 60p/50p output
• 4K networking
• 4K upscaling
• Picture presets
• 7.1ch analog audio output
• High-quality power supply and audio circuitry
• Twin HDMI with “low clock jitter” processing
• DLNA (client/renderer)
• Network drive access
• External HDD playback
• Wi-Fi and Web browser
