Onkyo, Pioneer Elite, Integra AVRs Get Sonos Update

Onkyo USA Corporation today announced a firmware update that enables Sonos volume pass-through and other features on certain Onkyo, Pioneer Elite, and Integra brand AV receivers.

The update makes it possible to control receiver volume through the Sonos app, negating the need to preset volume. On the Onkyo and Pioneer Elite models, the update also makes it possible to manage up to three Sonos Port or Connect streaming devices through the receiver without a control system — making them the first AVRs with the ability to manage multiple Sonos devices.

Four Onkyo models and four Pioneer Elite models will be automatically upgraded with the new Sonos functionality: The Onkyo models are TX-NR696, TX-NR797, TX-RZ740, and TX-RZ840; the Pioneer Elite models are the VSX-LX304, VSX-LX504, SC-LX704, and SC-LX904.

For Integra, the update is available for manual download on three “Works With Sonos” certified AV receivers: the DRX-3.3, DRX-4.3, and DRX-5.3.
