Nativ Adds Lossless Classical Music Streaming

Nativ, Hong Kong-based maker of the Vita high-resolution music player/server, has teamed with Idagio to bring lossless classical music streaming to its player.

Owners of the Vita player ($1,599 and up) can now stream the Idagio catalog of more than 2 million tracks from 1,000-plus labels in CD quality via the FLAC file format. The Berlin-based music streaming service is designed for classical music enthusiasts and known for its exceptional user interface, search capabilities, and curated playlists. Searches can be done by composer, conductor, performer, instrument, publisher/label, and orchestra/ensemble.

Idagio also includes a Mood Player that “helps users find the best music to suit their day, even if they aren’t sure what exactly they’d like to listen to.”

For a limited time, Nativ is offering a free one-year subscription to Idagio with the purchase of a Nativ Vita player.

“Most of today’s payback solutions and streaming services ignore the unique characteristics of classical music, and you therefore cannot experience its full potential,” said Michael Li, CEO and co-founder of Nativ. “Idagio truly understands classical music and allows users to enjoy the genre in a way it has never been possible before. The Vita’s enormous touchscreen interface and audiophile hardware design take this experience to another level.”

The Nativ Vita player has an 11.6-inch touchscreen, built-in 10-terabyte (TB) hard drive, and proprietary metadata system for categorizing, browsing, and combining music genres. In addition to Idagio, the player provides direct access to Apple Music, Spotify, and Tidal music services and supports streaming via Apple AirPlay, Spotify Connect, Google Cast, and Bluetooth aptX. The system is also compatible with Roon music-management software and can stream from a Mac, PC, or NAS using its “ultra-fast wireless and Gigabit networking technology.”
