Naim Introduces Mu-so Qb Wireless Music System
Slated for retail delivery this spring, the Qb system will sell for $1,000 and shares the “same design DNA” as Mu-so but in a compact cube just over 8-inches square with five drivers, offset and angled to create left-right dispersion, 300 watts of total power, and a 32-bit digital signal processor.
Inside, the system comprises pairs of microfiber dome tweeters and midrange drivers complemented by a woofer, driven by its own 100-watt amplifier, that works in tandem with two pistonic bass radiators. Control is handled via a top-mounted touchscreen interface bounded by an aluminum ring, which is illuminated to create the appearance of a floating disc. The enclosure is made of a glass-reinforced polymer with an anodized aluminum lid and heatsink, all resting on an acrylic base.
The Wi-Fi-based Qb system supports Spotify Connect, the Tidal streaming service, Internet Radio, AirPlay, and Bluetooth aptX streaming in addition to providing a USB input for charging and direct connection to smartphones and other devices, a 3.5mm analog input, and a optical digital input. Up to five Qb (and/or Mu-so) systems can be linked to create a multisource/multiroom setup.
The grille cloth covering the sides of the cabinet is available black or one of the colors shown above—blue, burnt orange, or red.
