LG and NAD Get AirPlay 2 Streaming

LG and NAD are the latest AV brands to support Apple’s AirPlay 2 platform, enabling wireless streaming from Apple iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

A software update, available starting today (July 30), enables AirPlay 2 with Siri voice control on NAD’s C 658 streaming DAC, M10 streaming amplifier, and new BluOS 2i upgrade module, which adds BluOs and AirPlay 2 streaming capability to the C 368 and C 388 integrated amplifiers.

Owners of these components will be prompted to update to version 3.4.20 of BluOS, the music-management/hi-res streaming software developed by NAD’s sister brand, Bluesound.

LG recently released a firmware update that adds AirPlay 2 streaming and HomeKit functionality with Siri voice control to its 2019 OLED, NanoCell, and artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled ThinQ 4K TVs. LG says it’s the first TV maker to support Apple’s HomeKit software for controlling smart-home devices.

The AirPlay 2 update enables Apple devices to stream video — including Dolby Vision high dynamic range (HDR)-enabled content — and photos directly to the LG TVs and AirPlay 2-compatible speakers around the home.
