InFocus to Relaunch ScreenPlay Projector Line

InFocus today announced plans to reintroduce the ScreenPlay line of DLP projectors at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) show that opens tomorrow in Amsterdam.

The once-popular line will reboot in March with two “low-latency” 1080p HD models optimized for entertainment, including fast-paced games. The new SP1081HD and SP2080HD projectors are rated for 3,800 and 4,000 lumens of brightness, respectively, with contrast ratios spec’d at 28,500:1 and 32,000:1. Proprietary BrilliantColor technology is said to enable the projection of “vivid and accurate colors on many surfaces in virtually any light.”

Pricing was not announced.

Both projectors include Bright, Movie, and 3D preset picture modes for easy setup, or users can create custom settings using RGBCMY Professional Color Adjustment and controls to adjust hue, saturation, gain, and other parameters. Both also equipped with two HDMI 1.4a ports and support 3D content; optional 144-Hz DLP Link 3D glasses are available.

InFocus said the color temperature of both projectors can be set to warm to protect viewers’ eyes during extended nighttime viewing and “support natural circadian rhythm and sleep cycles.”

The larger, more expensive SP2080HD includes a hidden “TechStation bay” for connecting streaming devices, such as a Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV Stick, or Roku Streaming Stick.
