House of Marley Unveils 'Eco-Conscious' Turntable

House of Marley, the company co-founded by the son of the late reggae icon Bob Marley, today announced its entry into the turntable market with the “eco-conscious” Stir It Up record player featuring a bamboo plinth, slip mat made of recycled silicone rubber, and fabric dust cover made from “up-cycled” hemp, cotton, and recycled plastic bottles.

The belt-drive turntable, which has a built-in switchable phono preamp and digital recording capability, will be available at TheHouseOfMarley.com and in retail stores on Earth Day (April 22) for $229 or $249 bundled with the 12-inch LP version of Legend: The Best Of Bob Marley and the Wailers.

Highlights include an Audio-Technica moving-magnet phono cartridge, recycled aluminum alloy platter, formaldehyde-free MDF base with a front-panel headphone minijack, and USB-to-PC recording mode for converting music on LPs to MP3 format.

“The beauty of the Stir it Up lies in its ecological balance,” said Rohan Marley, director and brand ambassador for House of Marley and son of Bob Marley. ”We’re bringing high quality, earth-friendly materials together with innovative design. The result is powerful sound and a stylish look for the new turntable. We are amplifying our father’s true sound to the masses.”
