CEDIA 2010: New Paradigms

Speaker-maker Paradigm has several new offerings at CEDIA, but the stuff that caught my eye was its MilleniaOne satellite speaker ($249/each) and Millenia subwoofer ($1399). Standing just under 8 inches high, the sat has a die-cast aluminum cabinet, a 1-inch aluminum tweeter, and a 4.5-inch aluminum mid-bass driver. That’s a lot of aluminum for a small speaker! Each speaker comes with a compact metal stand for bookshelf mounting. A horizontal version is also available for center-channel use in a 5.1 system.

MilleniaSub-small

Although the Millenia sub in this photo resembles a large modem, it’s much more appealing in person, especially the satin white version. A built-in 300-watt (RMS) amp drives a pair of 4 x 14-inch woofers located at opposite sides of its slender, sealed enclosure. The sub is wall-mountable and can run wire-free when you add Paradigm’s PT-2 wireless transmitter. Al Griffin
