Anyway, if you're interested in a really big 3D set and don't have a) cash to burn or b) the inclination or ability to reinforce your screening room's walls and floor, Mitsubishi may have your number. The new WD-92840 measures a vast 92" (yes, you read that right), but since it's a rear-projection DLP set, it weighs in at a svelte 198 pounds, meaning you may not have to employ piano movers (or a construction crane) to install it in your pad.

I got a chance to take a look at the set at last weeks CEA Line Shows here in Manhattan, and while the lighting conditions in Mitsubishi's booth weren't quite optimal (I noticed some annoying crosstalk with my active 3D spcs on), but overall picture quality looked good - not quite up to plasma snuff, but the experience is immersive enough at these screen dimensions you may not care.

Audio is well thought out; the built-in 16-speaker soundbar can be configured as a center channel in a larger home theater setup, so you'll have plenty of out-of-the-box and aftermarket options. Also among the set's collection of mod cons, there's even an iOS remote control app.

The Mitsubishi's best feature, however, is its price: $5,995, with two pairs of active-shutter glasses, making this by far the most affordable 3D option at this size I can think of.
