Bang & Olufsen Teams with LG on OLED TV

LG and Bang & Olufsen today unveiled an OLED TV at IFA in Berlin that is the result of a new collaborative effort between the companies.

The BeoVision Eclipse TV marries B&O’s signature design aesthetic and audio expertise with LG’s OLED technology and represents the first OLED display sold under the B&O moniker. B&O engineers in Struer, Denmark and LG engineers in Seoul, South Korea began work on the TV in 2016.

B&O said the collaboration marks the beginning of a new strategy of expanding technological capabilities and scale through partnerships so it can focus on core capabilities in acoustics, design, and craftsmanship.

The Eclipse TV will be offered in 55- and 65-inch screen sizes beginning in September. It features a built-in 450-watt sound system with a built-in center channel speaker, a motorized stand that can be controlled via the TV’s remote control to adjust the orientation of the screen, direct access to streaming services — including Netflix, Spotify, Amazon, and YouTube — through LG's WebOS 3.5 platform, and streaming via Chromecast, AirPlay, and Bluetooth. B&O also offers a motorized wall bracket.

Pricing is $9,995 for the 55-inch model and $14,995 for the 65-inch version, which will be available in November at Bang & Olufsen retail stores in New York City, Beverly Hills, Castlerock, CO, and Scottsdale, AZ.
