Amazon is reportedly developing its own streaming digital video recording device that records live TV and streams video to smartphones for later viewing.

Code-named “Frank,” the DVR includes physical storage and connects wirelessly to Amazon’s Fire TV devices, according to a Bloomberg report based on an anonymous source at Amazon, who noted that the company was mulling whether or not to move forward with the smartphone streaming feature.

The DVR is being developed by Amazon’s Lab126 R&D center, which created the Echo smart speaker in 2014 and is said to be working on a home robot and other connected devices as it seeks to bolster its presence in the living room.
