64 Audio Targets Audiophiles with Custom In-Ear Monitors

In-ear monitor (IEM) specialist 64 Audio has introduced four custom in-ear monitors, including a special-edition model produced in collaboration with Grammy-nominated bassist Nathan East.

Ranging in price from $699 to $1,699, the new IEMs are precision-built from unique ear impressions to ensure a personalized yet comfortable fit and feature patent-pending Apex (Air Pressure Exchange) Technology, which is said to dramatically reduce listening fatigue by releasing sound pressure through a pneumatically interactive vent. Using proprietary 3D-Fit technology, ear impressions are scanned, digitally refined, and printed directly in acrylic — a process that is described as far more precise than the conventional wax-dip molding process.

Described as inherently noise isolating, all of the new models are designed to work with a wide range of personal audio devices as well as both hard-wired and wireless sound monitoring systems.

The three-driver A3e ($699 and up), four-driver A4t ($999 and up), and six-driver A6t ($1,299 and up) each possess a unique sonic signature, allowing musicians and audiophiles to choose a model that caters to their musical tastes, explained 64 Audio founder and chief sound designer Vitaliy Belonozhko. “This is a significant launch for us. It represents the culmination of some very hard work by our R&D and engineering teams to bring a technology that was once available only in our flagship products to virtually our entire lineup.”

Commenting on the new flagship N8 — pronounced “Nate” — Belonozhko said it was “an exciting challenge to achieve the sound signature we had targeted [with Nathan East]. “It pushed us to develop something new together. That’s what this is all about…working hand-in-hand with musicians to push our very own boundaries and deliver something special to our customers.”

The N8 is a hybrid IEM that uses a 9mm dynamic driver for bass and eight tiny balanced-armature drivers to cover the mids and highs.
