‘Paterno’ Starring Al Pacino Due for Download

HBO has announced that Paterno, the recently released film about the downfall of legendary Penn State football coach Joe Paterno, will be available for digital download on May 7.

The film centers on how Paterno, a beloved figure and the winningest coach in college football history, became embroiled in assistant coach Jerry Sandusky’s sexual abuse scandal. The events surrounding the scandal challenged Paterno’s legacy, forcing him to face questions of institutional failure that ultimately led to his dismissal in his 45th year as head coach.

Co-written and directed by Barry Levinson, Paterno stars Al Pacino in his third HBO collaboration with the award-winning filmmaker (HBO’s You Don’t Know Jack, Rain Man, and Scent of a Woman).
