Bluetooth Speaker Is the Latest Device to Self-Ignite

First it was Samsung’s self-igniting Galaxy Note 7 phones. Then it was an exploding headphone. Yesterday in New Jersey a battery-powered Bluetooth speaker began smoking before bursting into flames.
Nichole Tatem of Cliffside Park was in her room listening to music when smoke from the speaker filled the room, according to an NBC New York report.
Tatem grabbed an oven mitt, put the speaker in a paper bag and brought it out to the apartment stairwell, where it "popped" and burst into flames. The girl and her mother doused the fire with a bucket of water.
Officials investigating the incident have not identified the brand of the speaker but surmised that it could be a knock-off of a major brand.
