GoldenEar Announces New SuperSub Series

The SuperSub XXL will be the first model in GoldenEar Technologies’ new SuperSub series when it launches in late September at a projected retail price of $1,999, according to company founder and president Sandy Gross.

At the core of the SuperSub XXL is a 1,600-watt digital amp originally developed for the flagship Triton One speaker, a sophisticated digital processor that manages the audio signal all the way down to 10 Hz, and patent-pending dual-plane topology that mates two outward facing 12-inch drivers with sub-bass radiators that fire from the top and bottom of cabinet.

The unique driver configuration is said to focus low-frequency energy produced by the transducers “in order to effectively move the air in the room” and distribute driver-to-room coupling more smoothly.

Finished in gloss black lacquer, the SuperSub XXL's high-density Medite enclosure is “intricately braced” to eliminate the possibility of resonances or flexing of cabinet panels due to tremendous internal pressure. RCA inputs are provided for LFE connection or low-level connection from a stereo source. Approximate dimensions of the SuperSub XXL are 19 x 15.75 x 15.25 inches.

“The goal was to create beautifully styled, finely finished, reasonably sized subwoofers that could generate very-low-frequency pressure waves of extremely high amplitude, while delivering accurate and precise low-frequency performance that is both highly impactful and extremely musical,” Gross explained.
