Phil and Claire Foster are a sensible, suburban husband and wife slogging through their daily lives and marriage. But a case of mistaken identity sets off a n outrageous chain of events involving small-time thieves, big-city mobsters, corrupt cops and a crazed cabbie, as the Fosters' "date night" turns into a wild ride they'll never forget!.

Carell and Fey are funnier than expected in this charming date night that goes way too wrong. Think of this as an outlandish date version of North By Northwest. There are plenty of great cameos, some solid charm and also a nice dash of heart. While I typically don’t care much for this type of film, this one was a fun ride.

Fox delivers a solid Blu-ray presentation for this comedy. The HD video transfer offers great fine object details in close ups and plenty of rich contrast. Longer shots come off a tad on the soft side and sacrifice a bit of depth and dimension, but these moments are a bit few and far between. The DTS-HD Master Audio mix serves up some surprising dynamics and a rich sense of atmosphere. There are quite a few moments littered throughout the film that offer some solid bass extension and surround presence. Dialogue also sounds very natural and balance is perfect throughout the mix.

Extras include two separate cuts of the film and a nice set of themed behind the scenes features. You also get some deleted scenes and a feature commentary with the film’s director. Fox also throws in a digital copy for your portable device.

I wasn’t expecting much from this one but it won me over with its heart and laughs. Fox serves up a nice package making this one an easy recommendation for your date night.
