Yamaha Announces Atmos-Ready Soundbar and Preamp/Processor

Amid the flurry of MusicCast products announced at last week’s press event were two upcoming Atmos-ready products—the YSP-5600 soundbar the CX-A5100 preamp/processor.

Due out in December, the YSP-5600 soundbar uses a newly configured version of Yamaha’s longstanding Digital Sound Projector technology to reproduce a 7.1.2-channel Atmos experience. The soundbar will sell for $1,700.

The Aventage CX-A5100, an 11.2-channel prepro with dual subwoofer outputs that can be configured to support DTS:X or Dolby Atmos (up to 7.1.4), is due out in September at a suggested retail price of $3,000 but is currently marked down on yamaha.com for $2,500. Highlights include support for HDMI 2.0, HDCP 2.2, and high-dynamic range (HDR) video, balanced XLR outputs, and enhanced processing capabilities that allow the A5100 to layer Yamaha's classic Cinema DSP room and concert hall listening modes atop Atmos/DTS:X decoded programs, as well as providing multi-point room measurement for the YPAO auto setup/equalizer function.

Both products support MusicCast app-controlled wireless multiroom streaming, which includes playback of high-resolution audio files, and Bluetooth streaming from mobile devices in addition to being able to stream to Bluetooth-enabled speakers and headphones.
