What’s your take on 3DTV?

The recent announcement that ESPN is shuttering its 3D channel at the end of the year is raising questions about interest in 3DTV. What’s your take on 3D? If you're a fan, tell us about your favorite 3D movies and programs. And if you're not a fan, tell us why you don't like it.

My next TV or projector will probably have it but I can't see myself using it more than a couple of times a year.

After purchasing the Panasonic ZT60 65 inch, I can say that I like 3D a lot more. The ZT has really good 3D (IMO). I think 3D can become more than a novelty if companies put their best foot forward. Skip the smart tv features, and apply those efforts in total picture quality (2D and 3D).

Just once I would like the see a manufacturer maximize the current tech, before moving on to another platform. example, as great as OLED is projected to be, imagine a 4k kuro, or even a 4k ZT60!!

Just look at the ratings for "I don't care"
... it's a sad state that America is in.
Bad things are considered good and good things are bad.

Vote that way and you GET what you voted for.

LOL...yes, just look at the ratings for "I don't care". Kinda speaks for itself I think. Nobody is saying 3D is bad. Actually, I get what I PAY for, which of course is in this case the same as what I voted for. I am very much an Audio-Videophile, I've seen movies on other people's systems in 3D that I found most enjoyable. But I am not..now or ever..going to wear a pair of those 3D glasses EVERY time I watch a movie. I don't think it's bad per se, just wayyy too overrated. Put the money spent on gimmicks and fads into keeping Plasma (or other) more affordable and mainstream. I think the numbers show where better than half of us stand.

3D and 4K are non-starters. The consumer does not need it or want it...but we are going to get it none the less.

Well, from everything I've heard or seen, 4K is the real deal. Especially when watching content on a 130"+ projector screen.

Tried both favors, and I am sold, and bought , an LG passive. We just watched the new Oz last night. A completely different movie in 3D with really enjoyable use of the technique. I think it is the best 3D demo I have seen, by far. And so happy to be free of batteries as 6 of us watched the film last night.

Oz does look great in 3D! Check out the Hobbit.It's right up there too.

I am also eager to see passive 3D come to front projection. This would be the true theater experience at home. LG has one option, others come with stacking units, but I want the all-in-one unit for my future dedicated theater. Hopefully the age of battery-powered $100 glasses will pass and full-HD passive systems will continue to grow in acceptance. I think the split technology is as bad for 3D as the blu-ray versus HD, or Betamax battle. Give the consumer a controversial choice, and many will choose neither.

I think 3D is worth it. yes they need to work out one standard, then really get behind it.
